File compare utility

What is it?

Ever have 2 or more copies of a file, but the dates are different and you might have changed both of them independently? Ever download a program twice and wonder if HomeSite451s.exe is the same as HomeSiteEval.exe?

With this utility, you can tell if the files are different. Not only that, you can see the lines that are different in each file.

This utility is designed for the Windows 9x platform. It has not been tested in any other.

Now what do I do with it?

Install the utiity.

Unzip (get Winzip) the downloaded file into a temporary directory.
Run the setup.exe from the temporary folder.
Delete the files from the temp. folder

Run the utility.

Start up Fork in the Road
Pick each of the files to compare by typing in the path and file name or by clicking the buttons marked [...]
Click the [compare] button and a window will pop up showing the differences, if any, between the files.

Can I change it?

The short answer is no. The medium answer is you can change some of the compare behavior as outlined in the support section. But, WE can change it. Like to see this utility changed?
